Lip Brush
The Lip Make-Up Brush is a flat, domed shaped, natural hair brush with a head that is 0.4cm in width and 0.7cm deep. It has a 17cm handle, including the ferrule and is made from pony hair with a round silver brass covered ferrule. It is ideal for applying lipstick and lining the lips.
Natural hair brushes are usually made from squirrel hair, pony hair, goat hair, or blends, such as squirrel hair mix and squirrel hair blends. Natural hair is used mostly in the manufacture of large make-up brushes, such as powder, blusher and contour brushes and some larger eyeshadow brushes. Natural hair has a central structure known as the medulla. The medulla is covered by a thick sheath called the cortex and is layered by cuticle, which is like a shell of scales. The scales and hollows in the cuticle structure are responsible for holding and trapping the powders they pick up and when pressed the powder is released. Natural hair is the best and most preferred make up brush hair type for use with powders as it is able to deliver and apply make up more effectively.
How to clean your brush
To clean your make-up brush you should immerse only the hair of your brush in brush cleaner and agitate.
If you don’t have any brush cleaner then you can apply a mild shampoo to your
fingertips and gently shampoo the hair in the direction it lies. You would then rinse gently under running water, making sure that you keep the brush at a slight angle with the hair tips facing downwards.
Do not let any cleaner or water run inside the ferrule, as it will weaken the glue and causes shedding and wobbly handles. Make sure you keep the brush at a slight angle with the hair tips facing downwards,
then press the brush gently in a towel to dry. Leave the brush to dry flat over the edge of a level surface, i.e. desk, overnight, or hang it up with the tip facing DOWN. The hair part of the brush should not
come into contact with any surface whilst drying.
